1. I've never seen a rose bloom on its own. Education is a collective effort. Teaching and learning is relationship-based, collaborative, and beautiful because of those two things.

2. I didn't know we had yellow roses (we moved in in the winter). The learning takes place in the moment, but the lessons blossom over time. Sometimes we are there for the spring, and other times not. All of the seasons, though, are important.

3. Some are still buds while others are losing their petals. We encounter students at different stages of their development, and the lessons will impact them at different times, in different ways. There's no uniformity in learning, and there shouldn't be.

4. The beauty of bees. Education is an ecosystem, with many elements working together for the collective good. There's give and take. Balance is necessary (and hard), and when it's off, we need to tend to that.

5. I like roses now. We notice different things over time, shed practices and adopt new ones. Innovations allow us to evolve, and in doing so we are able to see teaching and learning differently. There are seasons to our understanding of education and our practices as well.
